Visitor Services Personnel

The Reynolds Museum, located in Wetaskiwin, inspires all to explore our mechanical heritage through authentic interactions. The museum acquires, preserves, researches, communicates, and exhibits in the fields of transportation, aviation, agriculture, and industry. 

We are looking to fill full-time summer Visitor Services positions. Preference given to full-time, post-secondary students returning to school in the fall. 

Along with your resume and cover letter, please include a 150-200 word value statement. Select one of our values listed below and write a short statement about how you connect with it. 

Responsibilities:

• Learn and present scripted programs, tours and demonstrations to students, special interest groups and the public. 

• Visit with our museum guests ensuring they have a great experience, letting them know what programs are available and answering questions. 

Qualifications:

• Ability to present programs before large and small audiences of all ages 

• Excellent customer service skills 

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions 

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment 

• Ability to demonstrate good judgment, critical problem solving and personal initiative 

• Ability to function effectively in an ever-changing environment and deal with frequent interruptions 

Other assets: 

• First Aid training 

• Additional languages 

Minimum Recruitment Standards: 

• A valid Class 5, Alberta Operator’s License 

• Ability to lift, move and carry up to 20 kg 

• Ability to work 5 days per week including weekends and holidays 

Training Provided: 

• Orientation to the museum and artifacts 

• Customer service skills 

• Emergency response 

• Program presentation

Hourly Wage: $17.50 to $19.00 per hour 

Hours: 9:00 am – 5:15 pm (36.25 hours per week)

Touring in Classics Assistant

Throughout July and August, visitors can hop in one of our vintage vehicles for a tour around our Coal Mining display. This is an exciting chance for people to not only look at the artifacts, but to experience them in motion.

The Touring in Classics Program Assistant will be an outgoing, people-oriented individual who enjoys working with and helping the public in a cultural setting. They will be responsible for ensuring that the Touring in Classics Program operates daily.

The Touring in Classics Program Assistant will:

  • Learn to drive a variety of vintage vehicles
  • Wash exterior, vacuum interior, check fluids and tire pressure daily
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure volunteers are scheduled and well trained
  • Tour visitors in vintage vehicles around the Museum site and Coal Mining Equipment Display
  • Assist Restoration Shop with general shop duties
  • Assist with roving through the gallery to answer visitor’s questions

Skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in English 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to present information before small audiences of all ages
  • Ability to demonstrate good judgement, critical problem solving and personal initiative
  • Ability to function effectively in an ever-changing environment and deal with frequent interruptions                         

Other Assets:

  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Experience working as an interpreter in other historical, cultural or natural settings
  • Previous mechanical experience
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Ability to drive a standard transmission (will train)
