Making Tracks: Crawlers, Tractors & Snowmobiles

This exhibition features activities for the young and the young at heart. From the 'Seat of Nails' and a hands-on activity station to guided programs and videos, this is a fun exploration of why sometimes "tracks beat wheels" in vehicle design.
Things to see and do:
- see amazing MASSIVE MACHINES
- more than 24 examples of tracked vehicles, some in the Museum and some on the grounds.
- climb on a 1946 John Deere LINDEMAN TRACTOR.
- see how TRACKED VEHICLES conquered challenging terrains
- sit on a SEAT OF NAILS - ouch!
Weekends from May 17 to June 22 and daily in July and August:
- enjoy a special program:
- Old Grudgers, New Alliances: the History of Caterpillar Inc.
- The Weasel: Never Used as Intended
- Floating on Snow: The Evolution of Snowmobiles
- make a caterpillar to take home (craft)
- Learn about the Science of Tracks using Under Pressure Experiments
In July and August only:
- Tour the outdoor Coal Mining exhibit in a chauffeur-driven classic car (Touring in Classics program)
- Learn to Drive a Model T (U-Drive program - extra fees apply)
- Take a guided tour of the Warehouse (extra fees apply)
