The Museum-Quality Vehicle Restoration Workshops provide time to spend with those who work in the Museum's Restoration Shop, and learn from the restoration processes they use. 

The courses include:

November 20 - Vehicle Restoration Process

  • Learn how to organize a body-off-frame restoration
    • How to choose your restoration project
    • How to source parts
    • How to research information on assembly procedures

November 21 - Mechanical Inspection & Assessment

  • Gain an understanding of how to evaluate, repair and maintain your engine and chassis
    • Initial diagnosis
    • Sourcing parts and contractors
    • Tips and tricks for repair
    • Safety and legal issues

November 22 - Metal Finish Repair on Automobile Bodies

  • Learn repair techniques for sheet metal body panels
    • How to make body repairs without the use of body filler
    • How to apply body solder
    • How to use a "body file"

November 23 - Surface Preparation, Paints & Finishes

  • Gain an understanding of how to prepare, paint and finish vehicle surfaces
    • Substrate preparation
    • Block sanding
    • Paint application

November 24 - Vehicle Detailing

  • The finishing touch on any restoration project is in the detailing
    • Evaluate, repair and maintain original materials
    • Choose and source the best products to use on different surfaces
